What's Next? A National Emergency?

The Power of our Presidency is a danger when abused. We never saw that power to the extent we see it now that we have a person who got the job by insulting everyone in his path and appealed to the uneducated poor in Middle America. Most of our other Presidents had ethics, morals or integrity and had law degrees or at least had a good understanding of our Constitution. He abused his power for personal monetary gain with other world leaders, tax breaks for his wealthy friends and himself, deleted environmental pollution restrictions for corporations and much more to hurt this country. His longest government shutdown in history is harming the very people who protect him and us the most; our military and secret service, airport security and Coast Guard.

What’s next? He could declare his fake news border security made up problem a National Emergency without any proof of a problem. He can abuse his power.  If he does this then he can approve money for the wall without Congressional approval. Our Constitution can give a President complete digression to declare a National Emergency because it should ONLY be used for an extreme emergency! One of our laws gives permission to the Secretary of Defense to undertake military construction projects that have not otherwise been authorized. Is it any coincidence that that guy just resigned too? Trump’s new guy Patrick M. Shanahan who is a management guy from the Boeing Corporation with no military knowledge or experience can be told by Trump to make the military build his wall.

Trump with his unfounded shutdown has already abused his authority providing no real proof for such a dramatic decision. A National Emergency would get Trump to get the military to build his wall and have the military budget pay for it. The opposition to the wall would be off the hook for Congressional approval for additional funds. But then thank God we still have our courts who could use the Emergency Order & Spending Authority to challenge the spending to prove where the hell the emergency actually is?

Every time Trump acts in a way that is an Abuse of Power it has an impact on our now fragile democracy. The long term damage to our democracy is really significant. Programs that were supposed to help us all have become very politicalized and is tearing the people of this country apart to political blaming over healthcare, weapons, domestic terrorism, immigration and spending. Trump got elected by most because folks were sick and tired of new parties like the Tea Party formation, the Christian Conservatives, battles between Democrats and Republicans, Socialists and Independents. So we took a chance on an ignorant, brash, boastful broke businessman who got Communists and Dictators to bail him out of his many financial problems. So here we are in a larger mess than ever before in America with our Idiot-In-Chief discrediting our good experienced lawmen in every branch of government, courts, White House appointments, military appointments and unworthy appointments to our Supreme Court with financial problems from excessive government spending to now no spending to the hard working government workers of this nation.
