Americans Are Always in Afghanistan

Image result for 17 year old war in Afghanistan

The war in Afghanistan is America’s longest war. During the Obama Administration Trump was very critical and demanded often that our involvement was a waste of money and the war should be over and all our troops should be pulled out. Obama did just that and then Trump got elected. As usual Trump lied and did a complete turnaround in policy and opinion. Trump increased military spending by a quarter billion dollars and our troops are constantly cleaning out places they already thought they took over. Our troops don’t move on the ground anymore. Most of the shooting is done from expensive drones and helicopters. The troops even take helicopters to the base that is only 15 miles away for fear that the roads are still too dangerous to drive on from land mines.
Our troops are under constant threat of land mines. Is peace even possible in a place that has been under war for centuries? Americans have been fighting there for 17 years in this war. It seems that the war on terror will never end. The Taliban is still killing everyone and now ISIS has expanded into Afghanistan causing more strife for our volunteer soldiers. If and when soldiers walk anywhere they are now equipped with metal detectors that they sway in front of them like a blind man’s cane to avoid being killed or dismembered by a bomb hidden in the dirt. Explosives are everywhere. Even if they dare to enter a building that they have taken over, there is the hidden threat that doorways can be rigged with explosives. Shouldn’t the real war be with whomever is supplying ISIS and the Taliban with money and explosives?
Trump doesn’t tweet about the war because he is obsessed with his self-promotion problems that have taken over the media from his sick sex life to his sick friendly obsession with evil Dictators. Trump hasn’t even addressed a press conference like all Presidents do. How as our President he does not ever mention the fact that over 2,300 American troops have died in the region? I am not sure what even a troop is? I learned that a troop comprises three to five platoons. The platoon contains from two to four squads or sections, each of which could have anywhere from eight to 14 soldiers. That means the platoon might have more than 50 soldiers, which means a troop might include as many as 250 soldiers. Sigh! So Sad! Well you do the math. All I know is that this war has and still is taking way too many of our brave trusting good Americans.
The number of soldiers injured and dismembered is staggering as well. The refugee crisis has grown because the civilians don’t feel safe to even return back to their homes. Obama killed Bin Laden who planned the 911 attacks from this region. Three United States Presidents, Bush, Obama and Trump have pledged victory in Afghanistan. There isn’t any victory there still. The war has claimed more than 100,000 Afghan lives. This year has been the worst for civilian deaths. There are 17 year old children who know nothing about a stable life. They only know death and destruction as a way of life. Despite all American efforts, the Taliban is stronger there. They have established control or influence now over more than half of the country. The government, police and courts are under Taliban influence. Prisons there on average hold over 4, 000 terrorists. Even they behind bars are not rehabilitated in any way. They are more defiant and say they will defend their country to their death until all foreign soldiers leave their country.
The Pentagon won’t release the official amount of troops in Afghanistan under Trump’s leadership. It is estimated that the amount of American troops on the ground in Afghanistan is still 14 to 15,000 troops. Why aren’t we having sit down talks with the enemy, the Taliban? Obviously all this killing of everyone isn’t helping anyone. Trump claims to be the great negotiator, the deal maker.  Our 5 time draft dodger Coward in Chief hasn’t even visited the troops once in his Presidency but he has cost Americans $70 million dollars to the tax payers in security to protect himself as he travels every week sometimes multiple days a week to play golf at his personal for profit golf resorts around the world. Should Americans foot the bill for a golf resort just for him in Afghanistan just to get him there to offer support for our brave volunteer troops? Our General John Nicholson, Jr. our Commander for Resolute Support Mission and U.S. Forces in Afghanistan says he wants to end this war there.
The worst situation in Afghanistan is the plight of girls and women. They are not allowed to have an education, not allowed to work, must stay home and literally be sex slaves to their arranged husbands and be their slaves at home. Boys can do anything they want to. I think influence can be had in Afghanistan without bombs but with talking and discussions so that people there can live without the constant sounds of bombs going off and drones buzzing overhead. We need more influential WOMED WORLD LEADERS to promote the value of life as only a woman knows. The dreams of our soldiers wanting to come home, the dreams of women to have a decent life of their own and the dreams of children to be able to have families that are alive caring for them can come true. Humans should be better!
