I remember when all who served in the military was respected, well cared for and appreciated for their time of their lives spent serving protecting our country and what we value anywhere in the world at any personal risk to their lives.  I remember all entertainers and movie stars participating in USO shows worldwide in support of the military. They didn't have to go to war if they had families, children that needed their care at home. If they got injured they received honorable discharge and never were deployed to many tours of continuous duty. They got free burial sites and good free healthcare. No veteran was homeless or unemployed. They were awarded housing at affordable prices just for veterans. They were all handsome and beautiful wearing only their best dress uniforms in public places never in battle fatigues. They all marched in parades and did not return with so many loss of limbs and mental illnesses. Wars never lasted for 16 continuous years. 

We need to protect our war heroes during deployments and also as veterans. Marriages don't last for a lifetime anymore where wives wait patiently for their soldier men to return from battle that only lasted for a few years at most. Wars are continuous now, the soldiers do not get enough time to return home to maintain their relationships they value the most. They need something left in their lives to return home to in order to put the terrible memories of warfare behind them and move on to the perfect life they fought for. They need training for jobs in the private sector. We need to spend a portion of our ever growing military budget on the needs and services veterans need for the remainder of their lives if they get to return home at all. Any Navy Seal who are the best trained and do the most dangerous tasks for us should not have to serve 20 years to receive a pension or get no compensation.  They need to be well compensated immediately after they are excused from their service for their exceptional skills and bravery. Respect all veterans for the rest of their lives and have them teach thugs with guns when and where to properly use a lethal weapon.
