Image result for affordable college for all
I remember when a college education was affordable to anyone who wanted one. When tuition was free and all we paid for was fees and books.  When a college education was special and not a minimum requirement for a sub standard job. When students lived at home and commuted to a good college of choice. When no one died from fraternity hazing where to join you were subjected to humilitating harassment or abuse doing dangerous life testing tasks. Where drinking alcohol was not tolerated on campus in unsupervised dorm rooms. When breakfast wasn't served till 4 P. M. on Sunday afternoons because students were recovering from their all night drinking parties and didn't wake up till Sunday afternoon. When student debt didn't cripple young adults financially that they can't afford to buy homes or cars or even afford to begin adult lives on their own without parental support. When a girl couldn't attend a party because she was in fear of being raped or assaulted and the administration did nothing to prosecute the offenders.
We need to provide free college tuition paid by corporate profits and jobs that require college educations for the jobs they want filled. Supervise fraternities so they are safe fun places for students to congregate and not be in fear of sexual abuse. Crack down on alcohol, drug abuse and bullying on campus. Stop industries from hiring mostly part time workers with substandard wages with no benefits or job security. Bring back the employee protecting unions to jobs. Go back to encouraging all students to have a career path with good vocational schools available to all student who don't choose to go to college. Every high school student should leave with some chosen career path that is not binding but offers them a solid future. Stop exploiting the student athlete and offer them wages for all the extra time they have to spend on practices and travel to games while trying to concentrate and attend college courses. Sports coaches  should not be paid more than other professors.  Sports arenas on campus should not get more funding than other subjects and cost more than other programs at the schools.
