The Memo

Why it is so damaging that Trump released the FBI memo to the public? For starters no spy will ever again want to do any work for Americans on our behalf again now that classified secret information with sources are exposed. It was all don as a desperate attempt for Trump to try to deflect all the mounting evidence of collusion with the Russians during the election. The memo said that Hillary bought the spy’s information. Meanwhile it was Trump who initially asked the spy to find out things the Russians were doing. It is no scandal on Hillary’s part because it is a well-known fact that during elections opposing parties always find out any information they can find on opposing candidates but when the magnitude of the collusion was exposed it became a very serious problem. Hillary never did anything with the found information and could have and should have. Meanwhile, Trump and his boys continued working with the Russians till he got elected.

What was Trump attempting to accomplish? Does he even know that it is wrong to expose confidential spy information? Every President for the last 100 years used intelligence on their opponents. During the civil rights era Martin Luther King was spied upon. Vietnam protestors were spied upon. LBJ spied on his opponent Barry Goldwater. The drama at this current White House is more than any idiotic reality show on TV. The explosive memo written by the Republican Intelligence Agency did not ruin the investigation of collusion as they wanted. The big claim is that the FBI used a research document funded partly by Democrats called the Steele Dossier compiled by a British spy, Christopher Steel, a former British Intelligence agent, who observed that Trump and his boys were very chummy with the Russians during the election process.

Carter Paige is the Trump campaign Security Advisor who was paid by the Russians and had many meetings with the Russians during the campaign. Trump is mad that the FBI didn’t disclose publically that the report was paid by the Democrats. Who cares who paid for the information? It should remain in the FBI’s hands as intended.  Does this mean partisan bias by the FBI? NO The FBI was looking at Carter Paige’s dealings since 2013. That is long before the Steele Dossier was created. Trump needs to learn the laws before he goes mouthing off.

If you know the basics about warrants approved under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, the idea that a warrant request was based on opposition research from a foreign British Intelligence Officer is laughable. The Pfizer Law is pretty strict. The memo was written simply to try to discredit the ongoing investigation into Trump’s collusion. To risk the trust our remaining spies have just to try to see a partisan advantage is so damaging to this country. Trump only cares about himself as the snake he is slithering through life. Is the memo actually going to change anything in the Robert Mueller Russian Investigation? Probably NOT. It is just another talking point as Trump tried to undermine the investigation.

The release of this memo by Trump charts new territory about the release of information for partisan gain. Must our entire country be in jeopardy just because the firing of Trump is getting close to his door? If he has to go down he could care less if he takes the trust of the world to Americans down with him. Now the flood gates are open to make elections even uglier than they already are. Now members of Congress are going to write politically biased memos, intelligence information and publish it to seek a demagogue around it. No spy will give us any information in the future if they believe that they and their work could be released by Congress for a political whim.

The only benefit of releasing this memo will benefit the Russians.
