Political Legal Bribery and Corruption

Corruption in politics is now legal thanks to a recent Supreme Court ruling. Now politicians found guilty   of bribery in New York, Pennsylvania and Louisiana have been using the Supreme Court ruling to fight their convictions as well. So, paying off a politician with money, trips and expensive gifts is legal so that you can gain influence for your self- promotion and legal loopholes to get your product approved by the government? What ever happened to politicians being the servant of the people and whose job is to be the spokesperson for the average man’s needs in government?  That is apparently a myth and the reality is that our politicians are very wealthy individuals who broker deals to benefit them and the rich business leaders who line their palms with money for favors. Now with a Supreme Court ruling in their favor the flood gates are open for now legal corruption. GRRRRRRRRRR!
It is sad to know that guys like Frank Serpico who risked their lives exposing and fighting corruption in the New York City Police Department will now see that now corruption is legal. Yes, now corruption and influence paddling is legal. Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell   took his case to the Supreme Court and won! He used to have a squeaky clean Republican image with a reputations for job growth. Now he is the guy who was convicted of corruption and got the Supreme Court to rule in his favor. He was a convicted felon to serve 2 years in a Federal prison, lost his law license, his right to vote and his passport. He had a legal bill of $27 million dollars to eventually have the charges revoked. It was worth it because he won and won a decision for all the other corrupt politicians in America.
He originally had 19 guilty verdicts against him and his wife. Bob was one of the most popular Governor’s in recent history so it was shocking to find out that he was taking bribes for influence from a wealthy company. In 2012 he made it to the short list of Mitt Romney’s possible running mates. In 2014 Bob was indicted and found guilty for a conspiracy of bribery and corruption of power. He had accepted $177,000 dollars from a wealthy businessman in the form of loans and gifts. Vacations, a Ferrari use, Rolex watch, $15,000 dollars to pay for his daughter’s wedding, designer cloths, sporting equipment etc.; the Governor was living like a wealthy king.
Bob appealed his conviction up to the Federal Court of Appeals and lost twice. He still had the money to take his case to the Supreme Court and won. He got away with it all because Virginia Law at that time had no limit on gifts to State Officials. He got convicted for the bribery for influence for the company in the form of political favors.  Bob took so much money from multi-millionaire Johnny Williams who wanted state sponsored help to conduct studies for his tobacco based supplement called Anata being promoted as an anti-inflammatory support   dietary supplement that he drew attention to himself. So, now if your company can cough up enough money to our government officials you too can gain influence and approvals for whatever crap you want to promote or sell in America. Ethics and fairness has been thrown out the window and tossed   in the trash as America’s new garbage.
The Governor used his political office for personal gain in turn inviting the millionaire to events at the governor’s mansion with health care officials and researchers who could help him get the stuff approved.  Bob won his defense for such actions as “job creation” efforts. Now routine criminal conduct by politicians is legal. Accepting lavish gifts is part of the job for politicians? Who voted for that practice? What is worse is that Bob McDonnell ran on a campaign of faith and family values yet when the chips were down in court he blamed his wife for accepting the money and gifts literally throwing her under the bus and getting her convicted too. So much for faith and family!

The disgraced Governor lived after the scandal in a church. Where was his moral code? No remorse? Virginia law didn’t require disclosure of gifts to family members. He tried to say his wife had all the money and gifts including a $50,000 pay day. So, Bob didn’t know where she was getting all this money from? Well, he managed to convince the Supreme Court of no wrongdoing. God Bless America!
