The New Weapon of Choice

The weapon of choice in the world is now transportation. Cars and trucks are everywhere and everyone can operate one. Put a bitter person behind the wheel and hundreds can be killed in a moment. The terrorists know it and they are using this warfare   tactic all over the world with more frequency now. It is quite apparent that the free world is under attack in bits and pieces and is very effective. Most recently was the attack in Barcelona, Spain that took 13 lives with about 100 innocent people injured. What is different about this attack is that ISIS is being cautious about claiming responsibility for the attack because the driver of the truck who drove recklessly is alive and ran away. Usually ISIS criminals kill themselves in their attacks.
There have been six vehicle related terrorist attacks in Europe in just the past year that took out multiple fatalities. Last July in Niece, France a large truck drove into people celebrating Bastille Day   and killed 87 people as it drove quickly down about a mile into crowds of innocent families. Just before Christmas last year a man drove a truck into a market in Berlin that killed 12 shoppers. In March of this year someone drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in London that killed 4 people walking then the attacker got out of the car and stabbed a police officer to death. The following month in Stockholm, Sweden, a terrorist hijacked a delivery truck then smashed it into a department store and hit   pedestrians on the sidewalk killing 5 people. Then in June another attack in London killed 8 people when three men ran people over in a van on London Bridge then got out of the van and stabbed several people before being shot to death by London Police.
In the past few months the weapon of choice is transportation with the attack on innocent people without any warning. Is this the new war of the world? The last time Spain was attacked by terrorists was back more than a decade ago in 2004 when bombs went off in trains in Madrid. At that time 13 bombs went off in packed commuter trains during rush hour within 20 minutes. Bombs were placed in backpacks and hidden on the train tracks. How can surprise attacks like these on innocent people in public places be stopped?  At that time Bin Laden wasn’t killed yet and ISIS wasn’t well known yet. The world is still suffering from these kinds of random attacks. No one is safe at any time. Must we have to try to survive in suck an evil distrustful way? Humans are simply out to destroy the human race. Animals are much kinder to each other. They kill only for hunger.

The evolution of terrorism continues. The Barcelona attack happened on one of the most famous and busy streets in all of Spain. The road goes from the center of the city down to the sea. Now that once busy street is a ghost town with everyone shocked into fear. Where are we safe anymore?
