It is ironic that as the globe is
united by an incurable deadly virus taking thousands of lives forcing humanity
to hide and try to recover in our homes
away from events and public places that we are celebrating 50 years since we
had a good look at earth from the moon? Should we be living lives in fear as a
life half lived? Is this pandemic finally telling us to preserve our planet and
listen to scientists about our preservation rather than listen to greedy
business destroying our planet?
Billions are being spent on Space
Force, an army in space or on Space travel trips to space stations but we don’t
have enough money spent on scientists in the CDC worldwide or disease test
kits. It is time to celebrate earth and the 50th year of Earth Day
this April 22, 2020. We need to apologize to our earth and figure out how to
make things better. The first Earth Day was in 1970 because we were actively
going and walking on the moon by 1970. It was then when the Saturn 5 dropped
off American astronauts who took that step on the moon in 1969 when we
discovered the earth. In the darkness of space we saw that beautiful sphere of
blue seas, white clouds and ice caps over brown mountains unlike anything else
ever seen still in any place anywhere. We didn’t see borders, walls,
civilizations or wars. We didn’t see incurable diseases, poverty, extinct
animals or pollution. Here we are 50 years later and humanity has learned
NOTHING. We are now destroying ourselves forced to hide and hide from death
that has no weapon we can see or sweep away clearly.
We tried 50 years ago when we
voted in the EPA, The Environmental Protection Agency, we banned leaded gas by
1973, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was founded, we
formed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. But we have Trump who has taken
the scientists out of Washington, took 80% funding away from the Centers for
Disease Control, hired trophy hunters to oversee our endangered animals,
defunded all of these agencies, gives no authority to his appointed unqualified
Surgeon General, is giving corporations the rights to pollute our land and
water and now the world is polluted with deadly incurable disease. Is this how
humanity ends?
NOW more than ever we need to
take the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day very seriously because our
very survival on this our only habitable planet is in the most serious danger
it has ever been in our collective lifetimes. Humans CAN control disease by
eating food and not bats. We can provide safe clean water, food and land. We
can stop wars get rid of nuclear weapons and power plants with destructive by
products with nowhere to dispose of them. We can live without plastics
polluting and never decomposing. We can still prosper financially without
killing ourselves worldwide if we only had honest, responsible caring global
leaders. Our globe needs to know what to fear and it is much more than this current
destructive virus. We need to fear stupid folks making our only world’s major
decisions.
