Our Real National Emergency

When any doctor hears the word emergency, they immediately spring into action. Well, after weeks of inaction by Trump, he has finally declared a National Emergency over a real emergency in America unlike the last one he declared over poor families trying to get safety at the border. Doctors now can go as fast as they can since the virus is spreading as fast as it can. Now this declaration of a National Emergence can release up to $50 billion dollars to be used to fight the pandemic. It means that there can be a newly formed private/ public partnership with major American corporations that deal daily with the public like Walgreens, CVS, Quest Diagnostics, Walmart and even Target with the aim to accelerate testing. South Korea HAS tested its population. America has tested less than a million folks meanwhile we are a nation of 300 million folks.

Private companies like Roche, LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics will develop and launch the deadly virus tests. The Mayo Clinic has invented a test that will detect the virus within hours instead of waiting for days for results. There are many doctors nationwide who have not given any tests because they don’t have any tests to give patients. The stock market responded. We had the biggest one day drop in history on Thursday and after the National Emergency announcement we had the biggest one day rise in history on Friday. Coronavirus 19 is deadlier than the flu and more contagious than the flu. With increased testing Doctors will know who and what to treat immediately and not just recommend everyone to go away and stay home.

The National Emergency now allows hospitals to activate their emergency preparedness plans. They can now mobilize and execute staff, supplies and systems to respond to the many positive tests that can overburden our pre- existing hospital systems. They can call in retired doctors, nurses not working now, call in our active reserve medical personnel to work on our soil for staff. More beds can be procured in other locations. Too bad Trump won’t donate his hotels to be used for patient care. Maybe he will try to get his sticky hands on these funds too. UGH!

We don’t even know what the United States crisis care systems are like since we thankfully have not had a nationwide health crisis of this magnitude ever in this country nationwide before. What we do know is that we cannot close down our economy, events, schools and every social interaction for long although it is the desperate measures we are taking right now. With adequate testing we can isolate the sick and allow the healthy to thrive. America is better than that. We have always been the leader in combating disease worldwide. Don’t let Trump ruin our reputation and kill us all here on our soil. He should be held accountable for many failures in his life but now he should be in jail for crimes against humanity since it is HIS fault that HE cut 700 working scientists stationed around the globe from the CDC to detect and combat worldwide disease put in place in 2015 after the Ebola crisis by Obama. Trump used the funds to pay for his stupid wall. He is a criminal of worldwide status and must be removed.
