Elect Real Leadership

Leadership In Turbulent Times book 221
What does true leadership look like in a National crisis? We see more of the usual denials, lies, insults and blunders from Trump. We see leadership from our nation’s reasonable, intelligent, empathetic State Governors. 75% of Americans believe that their Governors are doing a great job managing Corona Virus. How did our leaders deal with national crises in the past? Too bad ignorant pompous Trump has never learned anything from our great past Presidents.
FDR was the Governor of New York during the Depression after the Stock Market crashed in 1929.  On his own he mobilized a comprehensive relief program.  President Hover, like President Trump opposed Federal intervention. He like Trump, left it up to State Governors to fend for themselves. Trump has States bidding with suppliers in price wars over lifesaving supplies. Now because of the delay 7 people are dying in America every minute.
FDR had to deal with the collapsed economy and an unemployment rate that approached 25%. Now in Trumps America, the unemployment rate is at 20% and our economy has already collapsed. The stock market is down 25%. FDR was elected President in 1932. He promised to take charge with real leadership over the entire nation. Our three greatest Presidents, George Washington, Lincoln and FDR all faced terrible crises in America and they handled it well. There is no question that the recent loss of America’s health and wealth is another defining crisis in America.
America is now diseased by an inept President Trump and diseased by an incurable worldwide virus. History is not boring or just in the past so forget about it. History tells us how a strong America has risen from disaster before and with the right leaders we can thrive again. As we are all told to stay home to prevent our death, read the good book called Leadership in Turbulent Times by Doris Kearns Goodwin. She is a great historian and this book is on the New York Times Bestseller’s List. Be safe.
