If you go into the arena of politics you understand that you will be a target. They will try anything to keep you out. So all the new Congressional women who have entered politics must know who they are and be unwavering in their beliefs; the very beliefs that got them elected. We are all very lucky to still have the dedication and experience of Nancy Pelosi in our lives now more than ever. She is Madam Speaker of the House of Representatives elected once again and has become the most powerful woman in American History and the most powerful woman in American Politics.
Literally her entire life has been deeply engrossed in our government. She was born the daughter of a Congressman and later he was the long time mayor of Baltimore Tom Dellesandro. She knew how to deal with men from an early age since she was the youngest of seven children and the only girl. At 23 she got married and went on to be the mother of five children. She has two sons and three daughters and always remained active in politics despite her busy days of raising children. As most women who are married with a big family, she didn’t even begin her own political career until age 47. Yes, sometimes you have to wait half your life before you can have a life of your own.
A member of the Democratic Party, Pelosi is currently in her 17th term as a congresswoman, representing California's 12th congressional district (since 2013), which consists of four-fifths of the city and county of San Francisco. She initially represented the 5th district (1987–1993), and then, when district boundaries were redrawn after the 1990 Census, the 8th district(1993–2003). She has led House Democrats since 2003 (the first woman to lead a party in Congress), serving as Speaker twice (2007–2011 and 2019–present) and as House Minority Leader twice (2003–2007 and 2011–2019) depending upon whether Democrats or Republicans held the majority; she has also served as House Minority Whip (2002–2003).
Pelosi was a major opponent of the Iraq War as well as the Bush Administration's 2005 attempt to privatize Social Security. During her first speakership, she was instrumental in the passage of many landmark bills, including the Affordable Care Act, the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act, along with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and 2010 Tax Relief Act which served as economic stimulus amidst the Great Recession.
Nancy is not boastful about being the most powerful woman in American history. She would have loved to give that distinction to Hillary two years ago. Hillary is the most qualified person to lead this country. She is an Ivy league lawyer who knows the Constitution and our laws. Dedicated her life to health care issues. Senator, First Lady, Secretary of State, Presidential Candidate. Bill balanced the budget. She knows the White House inside and out and international relations. She has withstood all kinds of lies and discrimination and slander. She is kind and tough but so is Nancy and she is here now to protect the people in America from a Dictator Donald who had stolen the Presidency who is now the focus of a serious investigation that may result in impeachment.
