Soon it will be the time to start
shopping for all the back to school stuff the kids need. It is quiet now
because we are in the middle of the summer and school is closed but looking
back on the past school year all I can remember is hearing about a horrific
school shooting every week. Our lawmakers already are stocking up on their
thoughts and prayers for the upcoming school year but parents need to prepare
their kids for school not with extra workbooks for learning fun but with safety
gear to wear to school. This is no joke but
it is a serious concern and a reality for our kids safety.
There is a fashion trend that is
gaining momentum. It is bullet proof clothing. Companies are offering stylish
safety cloths. We need it because we can’t send our kids to school in a bullet
proof glass bubble although I would do that if I could just to have my precious
flesh and blood return home after a school day. Yes, parents are getting
paranoid and emotional even before tragedy strikes. There are still too many
guns allowed to be in the hands of the crazy. Period.
Yes safety clothing can be
practical but we also know it is not the solution but we have to do something
to protect our children in any way shape or form we can. MC ARMOR owned by
designer Miguel Caballer is manufacturing safety clothes for anyone to
purchase. His company provides for sale fashionable clothes. Tank tops, Keups, T-Shirts,
Jackets, backpacks and purses. He has a video out showing him shooting his
wife one foot away from her torso and her clothes saved her life. The bullet
was flattened on impact. He sells on-line and in his Florida store.
A lot of people have a lot of
guns so why shouldn’t there be a lot of protective clothes being sold in gun
shops too? Carolina Ballesteros who is the Co-Founder of MC Armor reminds us
that now with our lack of laws protecting people that guns have been part of
our culture. Yes, the quick and easy ability to kill is popular with criminals,
mentally ill and the supposedly good guys too. Already wearing some form of
bullet proof vests and accessories have become a $465 million dollar industry
in the United States. Over the next six years the industry is expected to grow
to over $5 billion dollars. Yes, no one wants to simply put down their weapons
and talk about their differences. That would be civilized. Humans seem to
prefer crazy lately.
The cloths are expensive. A
ballistic t-shirt can go for about $500 but the safety of our loved ones is
priceless. Weapons were once given only to the highly trained but it seems that
just about anyone can get a weapon anywhere. Adults are concerned also beyond
hiding behind their Second Amendment rights to carry a weapon meanwhile that was
signed during the Confederate era when farmers and such had to form militias
and later kept their weapons in Armories in town in case they were being
invaded. Now people want to keep their
weapons stash in their homes. Now lawyers, doctors, landlords and just about everyone is packing a gun.
The Columbian business started in
1992 and now outfits even UBER drivers. There is even a bullet proof Bible for
priests since in Columbia it was a very unsafe place with crime,, gangs and
drug lords shooting all the time even at funerals. After the Sandy Hook tragedy
happened in the United States where 20 innocent young children died from a
shooting, they expanded their business to the United States and designed their
very first bullet proof backpacks costing $500 a book bag. After the Parkland shooting of the teens
recently, the company sold out their backpacks.
Currently there are 310 million
guns in the United States. A new company started up called Aspetto Inc. that is
selling bullet proof suits for the male and female business attire. Abbas
Haider is the Co-Founder and said orders are pouring in for safety suits
especially from politicians and the suit can go anywhere from $5,000 to $9,000
per garment. Yes the price for saving a life is not cheap. The suit company
does background checks before they will sell the clothing. They don’t want
protective clothes in the hands of the bad guys. Background checks for
protective clothing is not a law even though a law should exist. Our lawmakers
are NOT doing much on the weapons issues. However it is illegal for convicted
felons. It is women who are buying the most amount of protective clothing. Sadly I wrote this in July of 2018 and things have gotten worse in America. SAD
