3-D Man

Now there is new help for all the victims of war that are without limbs. Thanks to the availability of three dimensional printers everywhere everyone can get an inexpensive custom made cheap limb to assist them in daily life again. Basically one can just print out a body part. They can mold and print out a human ear, implant it under the skin and it will at least look real. The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina is doing just that. They can even manufacture human tissue. With the use of the 3D Printer, they can manufacture viable body parts. So is the robotic old TV show Six Million Dollar man now a reality?
They can replace heart valves with an artificial one. It is not just putting a Barbie Doll part of plastic in you. It is so much more because it includes cell and your own tissue parts making the new addition to your body have part of your body included in the plastics. The easiest part is that they basically sew it on you and you are good to go. How long is it going to be before they can produce an entire body? Are we living in the science fiction world but now it all becomes the reality?
What we do know is that science has no boundaries. Now 3D printers got smaller and cheaper and are available to anyone everywhere. Parts and tools are created now from 3-D Printers and has become a multi-billion dollar industry. Formlabs is the biggest 3-D manufacturer and reminds us that the first 3-D Printers were made in the mid 1980’s and no one could even find one. They were expensive and hard to use. Back then no one really saw the potential to make something more significant. Now there are desk versions you can keep at your home or office. Now 3-D Printers are being used   in metal for mass production.
Soft plastics have the ability to do much more. Now they are preparing robots with human tissues and cells to be placed on Mars. You won’t have to feed these human like robots. Planetary science is now related to the genesis of human life. NASA more than finding life after earth is focusing on how to put human like computers and robots on other planets. Might not be human but it will come close to it. Some projects are very specific. MARS 2020 will be drilling into the surface of the planet searching for signs of past microbial life. In 2023 ELF will be trying to access habitability of oceans that will be a two year old mission. EUROPA CLIPPER will investigate durations of life sustainability from earth to planets.
Billionaires are contributing their funds to find other solar systems. They are creating propultion systems to have a craft powerful enough to sustain itself to far away solar systems without having to worry about a human dying on the craft but the robot will be human like. Who knew that we would be the ones to send the human like robots out into space.
