Our Young Olympics

This year’s winter Olympics is full of firsts and drama. The games are going strong and already there were historic events made for Americans. A 17 year old snowboarder teenager Red Gerard pulled off a shock win in the men’s slopestyle snowboarding competition to claim the first gold medal for Team USA at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea. He is the youngest man to win a gold medal since 1928 and American Miraj Nagasu ice skater made history and became the first American woman to land the high-risk triple axel spin in Olympic competition.
The most amazing thing going on at the Olympics is the condom situation. These winter games are breaking the record for most condoms being used. 110.000 thousand condoms  are being distributed to the athletes in Olympic competitions. Do the math. That is about 37 condoms per athlete. In the summer games the amount of condoms used can jump to 450,000. I know that Olympics were about sharing love in good competitions but must they take their work ethic to bed too? Hey it is Valentine’s Day soon too. Share the love. Ugh!

She tweeted about having ice cream before snowboarding run that won her a gold medal. In her third one she became the first woman ever to land back to back 10-80’s in the Olympics. Then there are the North Korean cheerleaders who are like robots continuing cheering all the time and if you get in the way of their marching, they will push you away.

Then there are old standbys like Mikaela Shiffrin an alpine skier who four years ago won a gold medal and she is back this year to win again. At age 17 she became the youngest American woman ever to win a world championship. At age 18 she won her gold medal and last year she won the World Cup title. These Olympic winning kids can wear their Olympic medals to their Proms this year.
Saul is a large city that holds 25 million people.  New York City has 8 million people so you will never be lonely in the region. We must applaud our fearless young adults who dare to do amazing things on the ice and in the snow. The snowboarders spin 65 feet high in their daredevil attempts to land quickly without flaws. Shawn White is currently in first place to win the gold medal in snowboarding. If nothing else these amazing young athletes teach us all how to be strong, never give up, stick to our goals for a lifetime and most of all have fun through the journey of success.
