Horrific Home School

How is it that a person can call their home a school? Schools were once public with college educated teachers who took licensing exams. Then Bush started the Charter schools. Then Trump hires as the Secretary of Education a person who has no teaching experience at all. The states have gotten out of control with approving home schooled children as being educated. The California Department of Education has “under current California law, the CDE does not approve, monitor, inspect or oversee private schools.” A father of 13 abused children listed himself as the Principal of the Sand Castle Day School at the same address of his home. The entire school body were his children. He was able to get funding for his so called school. It was a school of abuse of his own children. We can blame the broad spectrum of no regulations when it comes to education in this country.

The parents of the Turpin family abused and starved their own children for years. They are no longer listed as educators but as criminals. They have been arrested and are being held with $12 million dollars bail. One million dollars for each abuse child. They are now facing up to 94 years to life in prison if convicted. We would have never known about this failure of our education system and the abuse of these children at the hands of their own parents if one of the kids didn’t escape. One of the children, a 17 year old girl escaped through a window and called 911 on a deactivated cell phone. She was planning her escape over a two year period. When the police entered the home they found a 22 year old chained to a bed. Seven of the children were actually adults but they were so starved that they looked like much younger children. They all ranged from age 18 to 29 but looked like children before teen age.

The 29 year old weighed only 82 pounds. Several of the victims have cognitive impairment and are witnesses to prolonged physical and mental abuse. Torture charges are not being filed for the state of the 2 year old child who appears to be healthy. How did our education system allow for this off the chart sadistic behavior to exist? Public schools are monitored for safety issues and educational standards all the time. MORE MONITORING AND RESTRICTIONS NEED TO BE PUT ON THE HOME SCHOOLED AND CHARTER SCHOOLS.

The California Department of Education simply says in a statement, “We are sickened by this tragedy and relieved the children are now safe and authorities are investigating.” Trump plays golf and his unqualified Secretary of Education says nothing. All schools NEED TO BE approved under a set of standards, must be monitored and inspected for safety and educational standards. Our private schools are way too private to the point that they are able to be instructed by insane parents, where children can and possibly are being abused.  They at the very lease are NOT benefitting from making friends, going on class trips, having gym team sports, art and music classes, active science experiments or social activities with their peers.

Starvation and imprisonment is not anywhere close to an education. CHANGE THE LAWS SO THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.
