Tis the season to end
regulations. We all know that when it happens large corporations devour
everything and then we are left with fewer choices. Even when I go to CVS for
the brand name Q-Tips it is hard to find when the company pushes their own
brand of far inferior cotton on a stick product. It is annoying. I can’t even
watch the news without being assaulted with some Disney promotion during the
broadcast because Disney owns ABC. With large corporations come their endless
self- promotion. If you use the internet as we all do now for any kind of
research or information, Trump’s government is messing with that too. It would be a service to the world if they
banned all bomb making videos and pro-ISIS propaganda but nah instead the FCC
just voted to repeal net neutrality.
No protesting because our society
that communicates in little visual pictures doesn’t even know what is net
neutrality. The vote will affect those who use the internet the most. The
repeal of the net neutrality rules is a milestone for the Republican
deregulation push. Yes, they just repealed regulations that prevented your
internet provider from blocking certain websites or slowing down your data. Now
they can and that is wrong. The new rule will “prohibit broadband providers
from striking special deals that would give SOME websites or apps ”priority” over
others.” So now a big player like Google could make their site load faster than
other sites. What about the small business owner that sells their stuff on a
website. Forget about expecting anyone to have the patience to wait for it to
load up. I guess Google is now like porn sites. They never have a problem loading
up. Sigh!
Don’t they realize that by
killing net neutrality internet providers can do whatever they want? Yes, they
will hide my favorite brand of cotton on a stick too! Where’s the Q-Tips? They
will have to “disclose to their users what exactly they do to web traffic. Good
luck trying to read all that fine print. I can read that crap while I wait for
my websites to load. Big companies like Verizon and Comcast have spent millions
of dollars LOBBYING our bloated politicians to be able to block, slow down or prioritize
any web traffic they please. The FCC has received 22 million public comments on
this issue. The real wrench thrown into the engine is that as many as two
million comments were FAKE.
How does the average American
benefit when giant media corporations get their way? Sure the stock market is
doing well. It is a free fall of de-regulations for all corporations lately.
Let the money flow for them while the people get little or nothing in return.
This is Trump’s America now.
In more outrageous news Disney
just bought most of 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion dollars. So,
that is why it is so expensive to ride the tea cups there. Now even all our
movies will be having appearances by Mickey Mouse? Where will our movie choices
go? Gone. Watch all the Disney crap all they time or nothing. Disney is not
buying Fox Sports, Fox Broadcast Network and Not Fox News. Well, they should
have bought Fox News because that news is all fantasy and fake imagination too.
Are we going to be able to keep our intellect with all this forced information
thrust on us against our will? I call it harassment of the mind!
