Lawmakers need to stop all the
sex going on in our government and roll up their sleeves instead of pulling
down their pants. Consumers are getting ripped off daily by fraudulent companies
because our laws are too weak. You have heard of building contractors that want
to be paid up front for repairs made to your home. They rip apart the place and
then either just walk away or take their sweet time to do the work they were
contracted to do. They are so bold because our laws let them be irresponsible.
Our laws are flawed and people
are out hundreds of thousands of dollars in some cases because of it. Homes are
being left without doors, windows and adequate flooring for months and years
waiting for repairs to begin. It is a
pattern among bad contractors. The flaw in criminal law virtually gives home
improvement contractors in New York a license to steal. Even if you take your
contractor to court you have to prove that the contractor INTENDED to steal in
order to prosecute. Well how do you prove an INTENTION? The wise assed
contractor will never tell you to your face that they INTEND to rip you off
even though it is probably his only intention. An intention of any kind is hard
to prove. So the bastards walk with all your money.
There is too much of a grey area
in criminal law that allows contractors to get away with fraud. New York Republican
State Senator Phil Boyle admits that proving that a contractor intended to not
do the work when some of the work is partially done. So that is what the bad
contractors do. They tear everything apart and will maybe repair one wall or
something just to say that they are working on the project. So you lose your
money again. You can file a complaint with the District Attorney’s Office, file
a Civil Suit for damages and then the creepy contractors are allowed to sue YOU
for Deformation and say that the
allegations are untrue and probably sue you for millions. What a nightmare when
all you wanted was a new kitchen or something.
The Senators need to fix our
consumer protection laws and at least get the word INTENT out of the existing law.
No American should have to go bankrupt at the hands of bad contractors. Elected
officials should get down to doing the jobs they were elected to do instead of
always campaigning for themselves or other candidates. Even our stupid
President is campaigning for a fellow alleged sex abuser in Alabama to get
elected meanwhile he does nothing to aid or stop the
forest fires consuming California. Instead of approving a pipe line of oil
running throughout America, how about pipe lines of sea water to stop those
uncontrolled flames everywhere. Homes are damaged or ruined all over America
with all the different types of disasters in recent months. Our tax funded
government should be doing something to help the taxpayers and not themselves.
We hired those bums too.
