Fire Fire Literally Pants on Fire

What the hell? They are just watching wine country in California burn down! Call the National Guard, pipe line sea   water to these dry fiery areas, give everyone a shovel to pound the fires down with. DO SOMETHING! When it is a trailer park that burns down to the ground from uncontrollable fires no one cares but when Napa Valley is burnt where will we get this season’s California wine vintage from? It is no joke but a very serious matter that this administration makes no comment about.
In a matter of hours the entire 2017 harvest of wine was demolished as the wineries are burning down to the ground. Hundreds of thousands of bottles were destroyed this past weekend. The wine industry in Napa and Sonoma Valley employs more than 50,000 people. At least six large wineries in the area have burned to the ground. The golden hills of the Valley are now the color of charred blackness.
To understand the scope of the disaster, 20,000 people have been evacuated from the area and most of them have lost their homes. There are fire widows because there are so few men battling the fires. Why? Why isn’t the military or a way of mobilizing citizens happening to battle the flames? Granted it is a very dangerous situation as seen in the movie called Only The Brave that was made for the fire heroes in the story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots as they were called. The movie stars Josh Brolin and Jennifer Connelly that tells this true story of despair for all. The true story is about a group of 19 firefighters that were battling wildfires in Arizona just one hour away from Phoenix in 2013. They all died. They all left wives and young children.

Could America be doing more so no one could die or lose everything? The fires are spreading and the devastation of lives is rising. There are currently 17 major fires burning out of control in California above San Francisco and down near Los Angeles. 15 more people are dead and at least 2,000 structures have been destroyed. 115,000 plus acres of land have been burned. Santa Rosa is a city transformed by fire. The folks just wait for the winds to carry the flames to their door. Where is the military planes dropping fire retardants? Nowhere!
The city holds about 175,000 people and everything is charred to the ground. Trump says nothing. Block after block there is nothing but chimneys standing. This is happening in America??? WHY!!!!!
It is shocking how quickly a town can burn to the ground. High winds and dry ground is the perfect condition for a raging fire. Around 200 people are still missing in the northern California fires. Among those found dead were an elderly couple married 75 years. He was 100 years old and she was 98 years old.

In 24 hours much of California became scorched earth. If this is peak season for forest fires where the ground is driest and the winds are the highest, why isn’t there a long term plan to deal with these conditions, nip the fires when they are manageable and get this potential disaster under control each and every year? Our lawmakers in charge of our tax dollars don’t even seem to care. Must we protest about everything? At least offer fire prevention classes for all citizens living in these areas so they can do more than just watch everything they own burn to the ground and good folks lose their lives for no good reason.
