America is getting better in
dealing with horrific hurricanes or that the people of Houston are better than
the folks in New Orleans and New Jersey judging from the after math of
hurricanes Katrina and Sandy in the past. Everyone immediately helped each
other as quickly as they can in Houston. Even stores had homeless people
sleeping in their $10,000 beds and living room sets for free. But now the real
suffering will take place from disease and pollution. Mold can spread in just a
few days everywhere. Polluted water with Ecoli is in the waters still in the streets. The
water supply is polluted and chemical plants are erupting spewing toxic
chemicals into the air. How do you escape that?
Explosions were reported at a
flooded Crosby chemical plant in Houston. A fire broke out at the Arkema plant
in the town of Crosby following chemical explosions that sent plumes of black
smoke into the air. The plant manufactured liquid peroxide that needed to be refrigerated
and with no power the toxic stuff exploded. They expect 8 additional chemical storage containers of the stuff to explode too. They
evacuated a 2 mile radius around the plant. Officials said that until the flood
waters recede there is little they could do until the remaining containers burn
up. What about the toxic air that those poor people have to breath now?
What exactly are the chemicals
being produced at that plant? Arkema
Group is the owner of the plant and is one of the world’s largest chemical
companies in the world. Because of deregulation laws that Trump supports the
company doesn’t have to do anything but let it burn and pollute us all. Texas
has a business friendly policy that allows them to have even nerve gas in that
plant and they don’t have to tell anyone. Trump believes that not regulating
companies is a good thing for business and jobs. He is so selfish that when he
took his so called tour of the disaster area he was 2 hours away on dry land
wearing his own white cap that says USA on it that is sold on his Make America
Great Again website for $40 dollars.
We need more regulation for
companies especially those who produce dangerous toxic chemicals and force them
to have real plans or solutions to contain the poisons they produce if and when
a disaster like this happens! We need a leader who really is for the people he
governs and cares for their needs instead of flaunting shameless self-
promotion. Now we have Toxic Texas!
Richard Rennard an Arkema Company
Executive said, “ I don’t know the composition of the smoke” WELL, WHY NOT!
Companies should at least know what kinds of poisons they are making money
from!!
If information was available that
said what exactly what was in that plant and how much of the substances were in
the plant we would have some idea about what
we were dealing with during this catastrophe!
That is information we are NOT
allowed to know in the State of Texas. Texas made a change to their laws about
chemical storage that says that they do not have to disclose to the public what
they are storing and where they are storing dangerous chemicals in the interest
of being business friendly. What ever happen to being people friendly and
preserving our health?
So now that places are exploding
the people of Texas are being asked to “trust the companies”. HUH?
