Mexico has the most beautiful
beaches and you can get all he weed you want for $50. But Mexico just had the
worst earthquake to hit the place in 30 years. It struck the most populated and
modern city of Mexico City and has already killed hundreds of people. America
already misses all the Mexicans that already got deported because Mexicans are
the best workers and we see that in their relief efforts after the devastating earthquake.
Immediately after the tremors hit people went into how can I help you mode.
They didn’t stand around and wait
for FEMA to show up or wait for a celebrity telethon to raise millions of
dollars to go to a charity organization. They simply generously opened their
doors and gave away what was needed. Restaurants and food stores gave away food
packages to anyone Thousands went into the streets to help each other. Crying
displaced children were organized in groups where each child had a name tag put
on them immediately. Giant chains of people passed brick by brick by hand to
uncover those people trapped by destroyed collapsed buildings. They even
organized a system that if fists were raised into the air everyone would be silent
so they could hear the cries of people trapped under the debris. That is rescue
Mexican style.
In Mexico City rich and poor had
little in common until the earthquake struck then they had everything in
common. At least 25 children were killed in a crushed
school but their quick efforts freed 11 surviving children crushed under
debris. People mobilized and worked throughout the night trying to save people.
A surge of civic duty overtook the residents and they quickly mobilized to
provide medical care, food and water to the stunned victims. Stores stayed open
throughout the dark of night to offer workers water and food or a place to
rest. It was a 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck the busy metropolitan
capitol. The force of the quake caused 30 skyscrapers to crumble and forced
hundreds more to be damaged.
The earthquake immediately caused
40 percent of the city to instantly lose power that effected 20 million people
living or working in that area of the country. Rescue workers were soon
stretched to their limits so ordinary people stepped up and helped in any way
they could. Cooperation quickly took over any hint of chaos. At least 22
hospitals were destroyed or damaged so doctors were treating people out on the
streets if necessary. Some 5,000 schools were damaged in the quake. The school
administrators devised a system of stapling papers to the trees near the
destroyed schools with a name of a child individually and
instructed parents to take the paper with their child’s name off the tree as
they found their child. It was a quick system to identify the missing.
President Trump has been critical
of all Mexicans even during his campaign trail but faced by disaster no one can
match the hard work and diligence of a Mexican as seen in the past few days
since the disaster. Trump was slow to offer sympathy or help in the past to
Mexico and said “his phone had a bad connection” This time to avoid criticism
he offered both a bit faster.
