Where is the GOP? Yes, the Grand Old Party as we call the Republicans now on women’s issues? Could it possibly be that they lost the election due to the outrageous opinions of their candidates around the country? We all know at home that the secret to a successful marriage is to simply go along with what the wife wants. That is assuming your wife is not totally crazy. Usually they are not nuts and going with her flow on issues is the safe way to get through life. Why did the candidates say such outrageous things when they were supposedly trying to be well liked to be elected?
Let’s recap on some of their comments that were made throughout the campaign on women’s issues that Romney supported all of these local guys running for office. Missouri Candidate Tod Akin ended up loosing in this election and said, “ If it is a legitimate rape then the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” Really? What rape is legitimate? And, what part of her body has the power to shut down anything? I apparently did not learn what he was learning in school.
Then, Joe Walsh, the Republican Congressman from Illinois who also lost in this election said, “With modern technology and science there is no medical reason to perform an abortion to save a woman’s life.” Really? Where did he get that information from? He has some definite statistic that women’s lives are never in danger during childbirth? In extreme cases sometimes there is never a choice between saving mother vs, child despite all medical modern technology? My greatest fear was if a choice like that was necessary during the childbirth of our 4 children. A choice that must be made in certain instances. Where did he get his statistics from?
Not done yet. The GOP Senate Candidate from Indiana Richard Murdock who also lost in this election said ,” I believe that life begins at conception. The only exception I have to have an abortion is in that case for the life of the mother. I just struggle with it myself mostly for a long time but I come to realize that life is that gift from God and even if life begins from that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.” Really? I read that Bible that is God’s book according to the Catholic faith and I never read anywhere about God intending rape on anyone especially women. Where does this guy get his information from? Rape is a serious crime Richard punishable by law.
Well, these three guys lost their quest for election this year. What is wrong with the GOP lately? Must these guys be talking about women’s vagina's? There are so many other issues to talk about in America that need to be fixed why talk about that? I won’t even look into my wife’s underwear drawer. Where are the powerful outspoken women? Are they just too tired “having it all in life?.”
Yes, all the jobs, all the laundry, all the dirty dishes, all the bill paying etc. seems to be on the shoulders of women in society now. Oh yes, I forgot; also all the responsibilities for raising the kids too is a woman’s issue. Remember, if a child is wandering the streets late at night, the police look to arrest the mother for neglect first then maybe they might seek where the father is located. Many sperm donors of children these days could hardly earn the title of Dad.
According to the Gallup poles, we live in a Center Right Country, which means that we are not a progressive liberal country in our views anymore. We are somewhat Conservative in our opinions. According to the poles, Pro-Life is at an all time high. More men believe that but women are believers of Pro-Choice. There are more women than men in this country however, more men run for political office than women.
Perhaps, women have taken control of the situation by not voting for these three wacky guys. We live in a country of 5 different regions. Depending on what part of the country you are in, the opinions could be completely opposite from each other. No matter where you live or what you believe in, we never used to be definitive on what a woman should do with her body in the last 40 years. What right should these men have to define a woman’s right? No one mentions castrating a man who violates a woman against her will! Ouch!
