The Supreme Court Ruled Twice on President Trump Today

America has a current President unlike any other American President in history.  This one likes to defy the laws of this land and ignores Congressional subpoenas asking for testimony in any investigation. He has a habit of disrespecting the laws and procedures of the courts. This is a President who has fought to have the Supreme Court rule on procedures he refuses to comply with. No other President has ever done this. Previous Presidents always respected the laws of the land. 

Two cases were ruled on by the Supreme Court involving Trump. One against Trump filed with the New York Manhattan District Attorneys Court and another ruling involving the House of Representatives to go back to the lower courts where both can proceed to get his tax returns for review and to see his business records involving illegal payments to porn stars. 

Trump can no longer refuse to cooperate with Congress and the lower courts in their requests for subpoenas of witnesses and documents. YES President Trump has lost both cases today by losing but he also wins because the delay being pushed back to the lower courts will prevent the public from seeing his tax returns in the course of two election cycles. IT IS THE CASE OF JUSTICE DELAYED JUSTICE DENIED. 

The Supreme Court today unanimously concluded that a President does not possess absolute immunity from a state criminal subpoena. No, he can not hide from the power of the Presidency to avoid criminal prosecution. He must abide by the laws of the land as we all must.

We have had arrogant Presidents before who thought they had immense power to avoid the laws of the land and it didn't work for them either. In 1952 Harry Truman thought he could seize the steel mills because he wanted to avoid a strike that could jeopardize supplies for his Korean War. The Supreme Court ruled that he did not have the power to do that. In 1974 Richard Nixon didn't want to reveal his Watergate tapes. The Supreme Court ruled that he must provide the evidence in his criminal case. 

The most important revelation is that Trump's hasty appointments Neil Gorsuch and Richard Cavanaugh did NOT rule in his favor. For once his quid pro quo of one hand washes the other didn't work. Trump can't buy Supreme Court favors and THAT is the big win for Americans and what makes America Great again!
