Our country is SAD over the loss
of our health and wealth due to an out of control incurable virus. Add to all that,
the loss of our intelligence due to
polluted water, we have reasons to fight for happiness. It has been five years
and they are still giving the residents of Flint, Michigan receiving cases of
water to do everything with to survive that health crisis. The state stopped
giving out bottled water two years ago but the water still is not safe to
drink. Water used to be a basic necessity that no one had to stand on line for and
we trusted our elected officials to keep it safe to drink.
Flint was once a prosperous hub
of the auto industry in Michigan but became nearly bankrupt thanks to the Bush
Presidency. To save money the Republican state leadership there hoped to save
money and switched the areas water source from the finest source in the world
our Great Lakes to the not so great Flint River. Almost immediately the residents
noticed that their water was rust colored and they developed rashes. After
protests and a lengthy investigation it was found that the water was NOT
treated with chemicals to prevent the pipes from corroding. The harsh water corroded
the old lead pipes used for tap water and now doctors have determined that
these folks were poisoned by the water.
Pediatricians have seen high
levels of lead in the children of Flint. It was General Motors who still has a
plant there noticed that the water was corroding the engine parts. There is NO
SAFE LEVEL OF LEAD anywhere. Lead is an irreversible neuro toxin. It impacts how children and adults think. It
impacts behavior like developmental delays. It has life altering consequences. Since
2015 data has been collected and it is another sad thing for America to grasp. Ur
children and population is getting stupider!
Blood levels were compared to
folks before the water source switch to now after the water source switch. The
lead levels were extremely high in the bloodstreams. Environmental
contamination of our water sources are ruining our human capabilities and level
of intelligent thinking. Children who
are taking standardized tests capabilities have dropped from 40% success rate
to just 10% now. Our Special Education Programs in schools are full of
developmentally insufficient children who need lots of extra care and
assistance to do mental thinking that once were considered easy or the norm.
Before the water crisis about 15%
of the children were in special education getting services. Now there are a
staggering 80% of children who are considered slow in language learning and intellectual
disorders. Like in the corona virus there is no antidote or magic pill to make
things better. What we can do is elect educated responsible leaders to make the
right safe decisions for the American people. Stop polluting our environment,
taking health workers out of govt. ruining our financial and mental willingness.
We all have to care more!
