Corporations can do what Government won't

It is nice to know that corporate America is stepping up to the plate on gun safety since our government is failing us now. They realize that we need common sense on gun reform. Last month chief executives from over 150 companies signed a very public letter to Senate leaders. They are the CEOs for Gun Safety. Former Mayor of New York City Mike Blumberg invested millions of his own money to the non-profit called Everytown for Gun Safety.
Four years ago Walmart announced that it would stop selling assault rifles to the public. And after a mass shooting inside one of its own stores in El Paso, Texas Walmart stopped selling that kind of ammunition too. CVS, Kroger and Walgreens joined Walmart in asking their customers to not openly carry guns into their stores among other retailers. It makes sense that gun violence would end if guns were not around to be used.
Bank of America said that it would stop lending money to gun manufacturers. Yes. gun makers should be more aware of who they are selling their weapons to and not just seeking profits.
Last February the responsible Democrat dominated House of Representatives passed legislation that would broaden Federal background checks for firearm purchases but the Bill is still sitting on Mitch McConnell's desk as at least 150 Bills are not going anywhere with the Republican Senate and do nothing Trump stalling many Bills that most of our lawmakers voted positively on.
The biggest CEO that has taken a stand for gun reform is the owner of Dick's Sporting Goods who used to be a major gun supplier. Now he has removed all guns from over 100 stores. If these adjustments by corporate America can save just one life, their efforts are worth the try.
