It's time to put more women on a pedestal

Image result for a pedestal with no statute
Memorials are usually expressed in large bronze statues in honor of a deserving person who went above and beyond in service and dedication to this Country. Why are they always men? Where are the commemorative statues of women who represent more than half of our population throughout history? Statues of women are missing from parks and landmarks all across America. Just take a walk into New York City's Central Park where millions of people visit each year you will see many statues that dot the landscape. There is Shakespeare, Alexander Hamilton and Christopher Columbus. The only statue of women are Mother Goose and Alice in Wonderland and these two aren't real women. In Central Park there are 22 statues that are all men. There is even a statue of a dog. No women.
A Memorial Day should also pay homage to notable women throughout history. How about a statue of the suffrage girls like Susan B. Anthony or Elizabeth Stanton? Americans need to see and celebrate good women role models too. Nationwide there are more than 5,000 outdoor statues but fewer than 400 of them are of women.
There has been debates over our statues lately and most of the Confederate figures have been torn down. Why not put a good woman in its place?  Us girls are very tolerant people since it is annoying that on every cash bill there is a man. On every well used coin there is a man. All the streets are named after men. Schools are named after men. There isn't a single holiday named after a woman!
We tell our children that you can be whatever you want to be but what we see is that we can't. Right now many states are forcing women to become mothers when they don't want to with their strict anti-abortion laws even when she has been a victim of rape or incest. Women need to be appreciated more.
Women should at least have the right to have a statue since it took so long for them to even have the right to vote. Women need to be memorialized for all the work that they do for society. Even in the Statuary Hall in the Capitol each states gets to designate two statues to represent their region. Out of 100 statues there are only 9 that commemorate women. So, this Memorial Day honor all the women who comforted and cared for our fallen soldiers. Honor the woman who fed and clothed and nurtured you to make you to become the fine man you are and just say thanks Mom. That is all women really need. We know better but that stupid statue would be nice too.
