The Medal of Freedom

Trump will give Tiger Woods the National Medal of Freedom for publicly having multiple women while married, going to rehab for sex addiction  or for driving under the influence of drugs sleeping at the wheel? He is known for being a golfer all his life and NOT for doing anything remotely heroic defending freedoms for anyone expect for possibly being the spokesman for promiscuous sex and drugs. Trump admires that and wants to award that?

Recently Tiger finally won his fifth Masters Championship. He last won that 14 years ago. If anything he should be known for changing the color code in golf. As a young child he was on the golf courses playing his game in a world of white men meanwhile he was Asian and Black. At age five he made appearances on talk shows showing off his exceptional golf swing. Tiger dropped out of Stanford University to be a professional golfer. He made money in endorsement deals as he became the first black man to win the Masters at age 21.

By the time he was 30 years old he became the most dominant golfer. By 2009 his good name was tarnished by himself. Infidelity would cost him his marriage. He has to go to rehab for sex addiction after being with at least 17 women many at the same time. By 2013 he was apologizing for himself and his golf games were not doing well either. His terrible public image cost him the loss of many endorsements but Trump thinks he deserves the National Medal of Freedom? Why?

By 2017 he suffered from multiple back surgeries and chronic pain that halted his comeback career. It was then that he was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs that impaired him so much that he was sleeping at the wheel while driving at 3 A.M. At this point the only thing breathtaking was his fall from a great career and life decisions that were just plain wrong. By now his body had betrayed him and his actions have diminished him. 

But then last year he had his first PGA win in over five seasons. All of a sudden at age 43 he is more mature, more of a family man and healthier. He is no longer the number one player but he now has 15 Majors. Jack Nicholas has 18 and Tiger is still chasing the dream. The National Medal of Freedom should be given to a candidate who chases the dream for Democracy and the American way not for a older man chasing a dream of winning the most golf tournaments with a shady past to say the least.
