New York City now has a new wonder to add to the many points of interest in the skyline. It is the largest and most expensive gift to the city by a private developer being built on the West Side of Manhattan. It is called Hudson Yards. In the center of the development is an impressive landmark for all to enjoy. The odd structure is known as the Vessel. After 8 months of construction you can see the 15 story work of art in the center of the complex. Recently the last structural piece of the puzzle was installed and now it is open to the public.
Just The Vessel alone cost $150 million dollars. Developer Steven Ross was always told that he was crazy and that it couldn’t be done. Well it is there and now is done. The Hudson Yards Public Square centerpiece is comprised of 154 connecting flights of stairs for all to get their 10,000 recommended steps per day by doctors for good health. Yes, finally someone constructed something in the city for all to use and is a healthy thing. Soon you can attempt to climb the 2,500 individual steps and pause on the 80 landings to see the amazing views from the structure. If you can do the full amount of stairs you will have put in one mile of exercise.
When it opens in early 2019 the area will be free to the public. New York will have its own weird type of Eiffel Tower as in France. At night it will be lit up in lights and speakers will be installed so folks can enjoy music. Performances will be held in the center of the structure. People still don’t know exactly what it is. It looks like a piece of art that you can climb into and have 360 degrees views of the city. It is just something really cool that all can enjoy and we all need some enjoyment. Thanks!
