Courting the Congo

Trump is too busy trying to get himself re-elected to even entertain the notion of the United States being part of what he calls,”shit hole countries”. He hates refugees or illegals but he does nothing to keep these people in their own countries happily. In the Congo the human tragedy is unspeakable. Over 6 million people are being killed. The region has the greatest amount of sexual violence against women than has ever been recorded. The location has minerals and forests that benefit everyone but the people of the region. America needs to at least think that this is an area that is so ungoverned that it is attractive as a training ground for international terrorists.

Since Trump has been elected there is no Ambassador to Congo. Almost two years into his administration, he has no excuse to have no one from the United States having a presence or influence there. The place is called The Democratic Republic of the Congo and lately there is nothing democratic about the place. Should we be letting democracies fail worldwide? Does Trump really feel that he can just box a wall around him? If he doesn’t get involved, soon terrorism will take over the world. Presently the United States is literally doing nothing. Trump likes to Tweet about himself and play golf.

Trump doesn’t even have a plan for the world except cozying up to Russia. The Congo is the size of the eastern United States and is large enough to not be ignored. The region is bordered by nine countries that can easily also fall to terrorist groups. Before you know it the entirety of central Africa will be de-stabilized. Apparently our reality TV show President knows little about international affairs, except for his affair with Putin.

During the Obama era there was a program in place where there was a group called the M23 and we got them to at least put down their weapons. We need to pay attention to the region just to ensure that terrorists made there will not be here anytime soon.
