Should you play by the rules?

Quite often Democrats lose because they play by the rules. Just look at all the recent appointments to the Supreme Court and the difference in how Trump and the Republicans quickly appointed not one but two quick conservative men to the Supreme Court whose votes will undoubtedly influence our laws for the next 40 years since they are both so young. The Republicans stole the first nomination to the Supreme Court in a move that was totally un-constitutional. Obama was too polite and we have to be critical of him because Obama played by the rules. Obama should have immediately nominated Garland and sworn him in for the Supreme Court position in a bold move. He should have challenged the Republicans to dare to kick him out of office. The Constitution says advice and consent and not delay and postpone. Obama fell into their trap and did as they instructed and postponed his choice for the Supreme Court and he ultimately was never sworn into the position.

Justices get confirmed for political reasons and that is wrong. We should go back to the times when a justice got hired by a majority vote. So now here we are with Trump’s quick choice, nomination and position on the court with Justice Brett Kavanaugh   who is obvious a choice built on Trump protecting himself against the growing cry for his impeachment.  Brett wrote that “Congress should pass a law exempting a President while in office from criminal prosecution and investigation including from questioning by criminal prosecutor or defense counsel.” So sure, this guy is Trump’s trump card for safety from prosecution. This is just more proof that Trump is the master at self-promotion and now self-preservation. Trump cares about Trump and not about the welfare of any American or this country.

Nixon and Bill Clinton were impeached because they both were involved in obstruction of justice. Nixon tampered with witnesses and Bill lied under oath. No one is above the law but remember that Senators can’t be arrested for what they do on the floor of the Senate. Congressmen and Judges   can’t be arrested on the way to the floor to the Senate due to a crazy provision to the Constitution. Trump wants to take the law one step further to protect himself with the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.  Right now Congress could investigate for impeachment and the United States Attorney’s Office could be investigating for impeachment but they are not because we have a Republican majority Congress and Trump immediately fired 25 judges as soon as he got elected. Further proof that Democrats lost because they play by the rules. Trump and his Republican thugs are changing the rules all the time and only in their favor to support their own preservation agendas. The American people and their needs are last on their list of priorities for American rules and regulations.

Trump can even fire Mueller and close the entire investigation. We need to have a non-partisan expert commission like was organized after 911 that can get all the facts and do something about the Russian interference into our election. Trump loves Russia and is deeply thankful for the interference into our election that helped him get the votes. The Russians will be sure to interfere with the next election for sure if we don’t stop them. It is time for the Democrats to NOT play by the rules and to finally get this Democracy of ours back on tract or America as we always knew it to be will be lost for at least 40 years.
