America is at war with Americans who are so divided along political parties. Folks will be defensive even before our elected officials say something and we check if there is an R or a D in front of their name and immediately take sides. Republicans and Democrats have learned from Trump’s habit of name calling just about everyone in a decretory way so it shouldn’t be a surprise when the fight spills over into our entertainment media famous folks. Even on social media if you dare to express an opinion there will be someone immediately call you a Retarded Republican or a Libertard. Isn’t the word retarded a no no now? Don’t people compare it to the N word for black people?

The great divide over thoughts and offensive words have spilled over into the media. Fueled by the recent cancellation of Rosanne on TV, Trump the reality Queen that he is felt that he must chime into the fight wanting Samantha Bee cancelled for calling his daughter a cunt. She wants Ivanka as a mother, to create some influence over her father and his harsh immigration laws that is now separating Mothers and Fathers from their young children in his quest to deport just about every Mexican he could find. It was more like wake up and tell your father to have some common sense when it comes to children. Did Trump attack Samantha just because she is a liberal? Rosanne, the Republican called an important woman from the Obama era an ape for no apparent reason or cause.

Both women immediately apologized for their comments. Both comments were wrong and over the top but should their unrelated verbal diarrhea spill over into the divide in political parties. How shallow have we all become? When and where does comedy cross the line? The White House Correspondence Dinner is traditionally a place where the press and celebrities get to roast the President and all Presidents had the self- confidence to realize that they were harsh jokes and at the end they made jokes of their own about others. Comedian Don Rickles, made a career of insulting people. We grew up watching the TV shows called All In the Family and The Jeffersons that were full of racially biased jokes and they all were funny. Somehow we knew NOT to take that kind of funny into directly insulting anyone for no reason. Trump is so insecure that for 2 years now he couldn’t even attend the White House Dinner that was in his honor.

It was only two days after Rosanne was fired that Trump wanted Samantha Bee fired. Coincidence? Is there a polarity between liberal and conservative? NO! The racism with Rosanne’s rudeness attacking Black people and to try to equate that with Ivanka Trump who currently has a position of power is NO comparison. Bill Maher once made a joke comparing Trumps hair to a red header ape and Trump sued Mahr even bringing his birth certificate into court as evidence that he was a human. Truth, no joke! Republican Trump Supporters call Trump their hero a man with balls and admire when he insults people on a daily basis. Double –standard? Definitely!

The name calling by just about everyone is becoming the new normal but the painful legacy behind the names is what makes it all so harmful to all. Comparing that woman by Rosanne to being an ape ties into America’s long history of racism. The use of the word cunt to describe upper class white women by Samantha Bee has no history to demean other white upper class women and right there is the difference between these two comedic women’s comments. Americans need a time out to reflect on what they say all the time and let’s begin with Trump. He gets to sit in the corner with the dunce hat on first. Oops? Can we say dunce anymore either? Sigh!
