Are We a United States?

You would think that protecting our children could be the one thing that can unite America but yet weeks after the school shooting in Florida more hate and divisiveness is being spewed everywhere over weapons more than saving lives. America is in control of the Republican Party that is the party that is against abortion but once the child is born they don’t seem to be concerned on who or where the child will be raised and now on the safety of the children in schools.
It seems that mass shootings have become normalized instead of the exception in daily lives. We try to protect our children with safety seats and helmets and electric socket protectors and if we put our children in cars we have to pass a test in order to drive that child around. Where is the passing of tests to even know if a person is using a weapon responsibly if at all weapons could ever be responsible or a reasonable thing to have? At least only issue the right to obtain a weapon   if someone has a clean record and never violated any laws.
In most countries around the world it is quite difficult to get a gun. Even in the “shithole” countries like Trump calls them, India, there are sensible rules in order to get a gun and it is very expensive to purchase a gun. Why is it so easy and inexpensive to get a gun in America? We tax booze and cigarettes why not heavily tax weapon ownership?
The only thing gun owners and gun victims have in common is the Constitution. Our rights to the First Amendment of free speech that the outraged fed up students are shouting and the Second Amendment excuse for gun owners needs to go to bed with their weapons. Can our love of our Constitution at least unite us all in a way? Right now there are more guns in America than there are people. Our country and social media is making us all more isolated and less friendly. The people who committed the crimes of mass shootings were all isolated, had poor social skills, were lonely or were angry that they felt that they have been wronged by someone.
Right now teachers are protesting that they don’t even have a living wage. Gun owners think teachers should be using their bodies to be human shields and carry guns. Teachers have to beg for the money to purchase pencils, paper and anything they need to use and actually talk to students. Must we all be reminded that school is the only place a child is told to put their games and phones down and to participate in group discussions? Toddlers are being given I Pads to play with instead of with other humans. Technology has made us all lonely and less social and our only hope for companionship is a like on a page. No wonder people are going crazy and shooting each other for basic attention. The YouTube woman shooter shot up innocent people because she was angry her media pages were deleted.
