Do you have a nice home? Do you pay a lot of property taxes? Then you should be on those long lines at the tax office to pay your taxes now this week before the New Year and Trump’s tax plan goes into effect for the New Year. Lines are out the door at tax offices when typically no one is concerned yet and the offices are empty. Homeowners are NOT happy. There are long lines to pay their property taxes before 2018. If you do pay them this week you could save thousands of dollars in deductions.

The new tax code is creating havoc with homeowners. Just ask your accountants and they would agree that it is advantageous to pay the bill NOW. Trump’s tax code will now put a cap on the amount of property taxes you can write off in the amount of $10,000 dollars according to Donald Clavin who is the Hempstead N.Y. Town Receiver of Taxes. This year if you pay high property taxes you can write it ALL off. Not anymore with Trump’s plan for next year and many years to follow.

The recent legislation will be a burden to homeowners. To accommodate the volume of people and amount of questions asked, tax collecting centers are working extra hours this week. They will even be open on Saturday and Sunday New Year’s Eve  to help people with their tax bills. Should we have to scramble to pay 2018 taxes now? NO But Trump and his rich Republican boys just don’t care about the average home owner. While we all scramble to comply with his hastily not much planned tax plan he has spent 108 days playing golf that represents 1/3^rd of his Presidency.
