Time Magazine’s Person of the
Year this year is the Me Too Movement. Me Who? That’s not a particular person!
Yup. That is every person who has been violated for sexual predatory reasons
and sadly there are a lot of women and men, teens and children and lately all
the piggish richest and most powerful MEN in our society have been called out
for their actions. Even without litigation, society is fed up and thankfully
they are resigning and being fired seemingly daily. Bill Cosby drugged his
victims to unconsciousness to violate their bodies and the courts did nothing
but grant him a miss-trial. Well that
isn’t good enough of a punishment.
People who speak up instead hide
in some sort of shame and silence are called the Silence Breakers now. This is
not a new issue. The Me Too Campaign actually started in 2006 by Terrana Burke. The # hashtag at safehorizon.org was
designed to give people the opportunity to share their horrific experiences
without disclosing whatever they are not ready to disclose in detail yet. Being
sexually assaulted is a very personal assault but very public in that you didn’t
want it, it is probably not done in the most comfortable surrounds, is mentally
and physically painful and sooo demeaning. The predator could care less about
your emotions or needs. They want what they want and they want it now and that
is all that matters backed up by being a rich or powerful man. They want you
helpless and hopeless.
It was 11 years ago when Terrana
experienced sexual assault herself and she wanted a place to share her pain on
her terms. Not to a stupid cop, not in just a police report, not to lawyers and
not to a jury. Someplace you could cry and be comforted and not defiled with
some jerk assuming that you asked for it in some way. The scrutiny belongs with the creepy guy more
than the violated victim. We should thank Trump and all the outrage he sparked
in women who marched with their pussy hats on is rage and defiance that now
there is no fear in outing these in reality sick wimpy men who hid behind theur
wealth and power in their industries.
Trump being elected anyway after
the tape of his pussy grabbing assaults was revealed sparked the outrage in
women and fueled the millions of people who participated in the women’s march. Senator
Al Franken has announced his resignation after women came forward with photos
and allegations of his sexual misconduct. The message now is, anyone who is aggressive
sexually especially at work better start running because people are angry and
will NOT be silent any longer. The only things predators say is, why did they
wait years and years to come forward? So if it happened 40 years ago does that
erase the crime? Hell No! Republican supporters of Roy Moore who is running for
office want to erase his documented past of assaulting minors. Trump is a pig
who endorsed this pig for his vote. There are so many good and decent people in
this world. Give power and fame to them because they are respectful of others.
