Good Old Murder

Image result for agatha christieShe was a great woman who was up there with some of the greatest men in history. Agatha Christie   sold  more than 2 billion books. Only Shakespeare and the Bible shared words with more people in history. It was even more amazing because she did all her writing in an era that offered women limited options. The movie about just one of her books called Murder on the Orient Express was a huge hit back in 1974 and it will soon be a hit again with a new remake of the film and her story. There is even a train that still exists where you can travel as they did in the book.  It is called the Venice-Simplon Orient Express that is a private luxury train service that travels from London to Venice and other European cities complete with a grand piano, white tablecloths and fine china. The  art deco décor makes it no ordinary train even without all that mystery as displayed in her book.

The restored 1920 train cars bring you back to an era of luxury on trains. The trains then used to go from   Paris to Istanbul. Agatha Christie loved to travel and was a regular on the Oriental Express so no wonder she wrote a famous story about murder on the train. Her imagination poured on the pages of 66 novels, over 150 short stories and more than 20 plays. None is more famous than her book called Murder on the Orient Express. There is a new movie coming out about the book that is casting many famous actors and actresses. Stars include Jonny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Michelle Pfeifer, Judi Bench and   Willem Dafoe. Kenneth Branagh stars and directs the new film soon to open in theaters this weekend.

Book a seat on the train and feel the spirit of Agatha Christie after you read her hundreds of books, short stories and plays. Her classic story demands to be told and told again for all to enjoy. The movie is the ultimate game of Clue. Apparently murder as seen in recent tragic events in America and a good old murder story seems to never go out of style.
