The Oscar Award Ceremony is tonight. . Do you agree with the Academy Awards in their choices for the best in anything? How can there be a best in the arts when anyone can love anything? At least they do not determine the best movie based on how much money it made. Yet, the highest-grossing film to win best picture Oscar was that good old movie called Gone With the Wind that made $1.75 billion dollars. That is an amazingly huge amount of ticket sales since tickets to a movie probably cost 50 cents a ticket in 1939.The Oscars will take place tonight this year without a host. Who will be there to tell us that we are half way into the show after sitting and watching for two hours? There will not be anyone to tell us when the show is over. I guess we should get used to these things by now. After all they are making cars that will take you places without a driver. We have self-checkout registers in the grocery store and stores are closing that we have to buy all our stuff for ourselves on line. Makes you feel so alone. Maybe there should be a movie about having no actors in the movie?
At least there will be lots of hosts on the red carpet telling us all who is a big movie star and discussing their thousand dollar dresses while during the show those people will tell us all how to be more conscience and responsible people in our lives. The cost of actress Cate Blanchette's 2014 Oscar attire was $18 million dollars. We will be seeing good looking people giving awards to other good looking people who play good looking people in the movies. The shortest Oscar acceptance speech ever was given by Patty Duke in 1963 after receiving the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and she simply said Thank You. They still give goody bags to those already very wealthy actors just for showing up. Now the average Oscar "goodie bag" is worth more than $100,000. Last year's most valuable giveaway was a trip to Tanzania.
Tonight we won't be able to see who got some awards because they will be presenting them during commercial breaks. Important awards like cinematography that is the pictures part of moving pictures. One thing for sure is that movies have gotten less steemy. The hottest movie sex scenes of all time took place at least 10 years ago. According to Cosmopolitan Magazine the top three sexy films were. Black Swan 2010, Boogie Nights 1997 and Wild Things 1998. Now we have Intimacy Directors International an organization designed specifically to oversee sex scenes in movies to make sure the actors are not personally being exploited since 2015.
Overall it is women who love the Oscars. According to the polls women love the musical numbers, the interviews on the red carpet, the speeches by the winners, reactions when awards are announced but still only 48% of women watch at all. Men , 73% of them don't watch it at all.
