No One is Home at the State Department

Obama and Hillary did a great job when you compare what they did to the sorry state of our State Department now. All Trump has done is annoy North Korea and Iran making us a risk to nuclear weapons. Trump’s foreign policy team is non-existent as he continues to annoy even the countries that still like the United States. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is presiding over a department where no one is home. Out of six undersecretaries only one is employed and he is an Obama appointee holdover. There are still five vacant positions in this high level jobs essential to attend to all our State Department needs.

 There should be 26 Assistant Secretaries of which 25 seats are still vacant with only one Trump appointee in office. There are important Embassies around the world without an Ambassador representing America in those countries. Countries without an Ambassador is South Korea, Afghanistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and India. All countries that need an representative from our country on their soil.

Foreign Diplomats complain that they have nowhere to call. Tillerson is the first Secretary of State who did not personally deliver the State Department’s Yearly Human Rights report. This carelessness or ignorance by our present government is telling the world that the United States has abandoned the fundamentals of our foreign policy in respect for human rights. This week Trump proved his callousness against Americans. He didn’t even visit  the United States Virgin Islands  after the most devastating hurricane to hit the area. In Puerto Rico he blamed the island for needing too much help. He complained about the cost to help the people there meanwhile they have to pay very high costs for everything since the law says they are not allowed to accept goods from other countries ports. Trump sells all his branded items from other countries. The double standard is alarming.

Trump further insults the poor people of Puerto Rico who still have flooding problems, no drinking water, no power and no food by literally throwing rolls of paper towels at people there. He passed around briefly flash lights. Is a roll of paper towels and a flash light going to change the horrific conditions Americans are facing there? The man is insane!

Now Trump wants to slash the State Department budget. The Council on Foreign Relations has a very important job to ease tensions around the world. Does Trump want to set us up for a global war? Consultations and negotiations is how intelligent people resolve differences. Trump calls world leaders “Rocket Man” and dares them to set off the most deadliest   weapons to destroy the earth. Did Hitler do stuff like this? After witnessing Trump’s carelessness and arrogance  I can finally understand how a nut job like Hitler rose to power too. Our government is in chaos!
